The NDIS aims to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities by helping them to: Spend more time with family and friends, Become more independent, Learn new skills, and Find jobs or volunteer in their community.
The NDIS provides funding for a range of services and supports, including:

  • Assistance with daily life
  • Transport

  • Assistive technology
  • Home modifications
  • Improved living arrangements

The NDIS is only available to people who have a permanent and significant disability. A permanent disability is one that is likely to last a person's lifetime, while a significant disability has a large impact on a person's ability to do everyday activities. The NDIS provides individualized funding, so the amount of money a person receives varies based on their personal needs and goals. The NDIS does not cover ordinary living expenses like rent, mortgage payments, utilities, groceries, or clothing that are not related to the person's disability.

To apply for the NDIS, you can contact your local NDIS office or partner, or you can call the NDIS on 1800 800 110.
